‘Mama police’ – Brazilian parrot taken into custody for
squawking at law enforcement

TAIPEI (The China Post) – A parrot was taken into custody on April 22 for
repeatedly yelling “Mama, police!” at the arrival of law enforcement.
The tropical bird, which was on the lookout for danger, was “arrested”
by police officers conducting a raid on two alleged drug dealers – a man
and a woman.

TAIPEI (CNA) – Taipei City Government won its appeal against a Taipei High
Administrative Court ruling allowing Farglory Group to continue safety-related
construction work on the Taipei Dome project, as detailed in a judgment by the
Supreme Administrative Court on Tuesday.

TAIPEI (The China Post) – Health and Welfare Minister Chen Shih-chung (陳時中) said on April 24 that he already
prepared his speech regarding Taiwan’s eventual non-participation in the World
Health Assembly (WHA). He is also considering handing in a letter of protest in
Geneva if Taiwan is not invited to the event for the third year, he added.

the ongoing decommissioning of 40 to 50 percent of Taichung Power Plant won’t
impact the electricity production in Taiwan. Yet, Taiwan Power Company
(Taipower) asked the city government to act cautiously as the decision might
