Osaka bans public smoking ahead of Expo 2025

World Expo — not by planting flowers, but by banning cigarettes. Osaka will

Taiwan Constitutional
Court faces paralysis after opposition amendment

Legal experts are worried about the survival of Taiwan’s top court after
opposition-backed amendments. The Constitutional Court Procedure Act, CCPA,
amendment by the KMT and TPP raises the minimum number of justices required to
pass a ruling to 10 out of 15. Previously, it required the support of the

Taipei fines firms for
repeat labor violations
Taipei’s labor bureau said that a bus company and restaurant Sukiya’s
parent company were among those fined for repeat labor violations in December. The
labor bureau said on Thursday that Kuang-Hua Bus was fined the maximum allowable
NT$1 million (US$30,440) for repeatedly failing to provide staff with adequate
rest between shifts, per CNA.

Taipei anime con with steampunk flair

Old-time elegance with Taiwanese flavoring is on offer at the
steampunk-inspired Dannior Gallery booth. Run by full-time artist Daniel Lin (林詠遴), his booth is tucked away in a corner at this week's Taipei
