TSMC chair dismisses reports about lower bonuses

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Annual bonuses for staff at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. will keep rising by at least 30% per year, Chair C.C. Wei (魏哲家) said Wednesday. He was responding to media reports predicting bonus cuts, with threats of union action and strikes as a result, Liberty Times reported. Wei reportedly cleared his schedule Wednesday to discuss the issue with personnel representatives.

Taipei university uses AI platform to boost student job matches

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taipei’s Chinese Culture University has launched an AI career platform to help students create digital resumes, apply for jobs, and match with employers more efficiently, CNA reported Wednesday. The university said its career fair ran from Tuesday to Friday this year. Nearly 40 companies joined the event, offering jobs in food services, retail, machinery, chemicals, technology, hotels, education, food processing, logistics, and financial services.

Taiwan’s Teng Kai-wei earns third win for Astros

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwanese pitcher Teng Kai-wei (鄧愷威) secured his third win of the season on Saturday as the Houston Astros shut out the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. Teng delivered six scoreless innings in the best outing of his Major League Baseball career, setting personal highs in both pitches thrown and innings pitched.
